AIS - How is a vessel is a potential danger ?

I read in the manual that a alert is triggered when a vessel becomes a potential danger.
My question is, how opencpn triggers this potential danger ?
Is it possible to configure the conditions for a alert to be set (and so displayed or played) ? I mean a minimum CPA/TCPA for example ....
I didn't find the information in the manual.

Just a question.
Cheers !

A proposal:

just take walk through the menus and observe which options you have at your fingertips......
As an alternative to study the manual - or to create a motivation to read the manual.
