Dear Helpdesk,

I am a very satisfied user of CPN, I think there is a bug in version 5,
with display options map in the previous version 4, the look ahead worked
presentation perfect.
But in version 5.0.0 + 9065270 it does not work as before instead of the
position at the top is the boat at the bottom and the large part at the top.
Is that a setting error or an error in the program?
On the site I cannot see if there is a newer version.
Do you recognize this and perhaps know what I can do about it?

Please read this introduction to version 5 that explains how "Look Ahead" works, among other things. If you still have questions please post again.

As I understand it, the main difference in the way Look Ahead works in the two versions is that in version 5 you can drag the chart and put the own ship icon where you want it. It will then stay there and the chart will scroll under it as the boat moves through the water.

The Look ahead mode is the same in version 5.x and version 4.x. The ship symbol is placed where heading is approx. 2/3 from screen edge. (If boat speed is more than 3 knots)
The Auto follow mode is however changed in v. 5.0. Now you can drag the ship symbol to a arbitrary position in relation to the screen edges and and it will stay there even if your heading is changed.
