Can you set these with Prune?
I can do it manually...

At present prune will only allow you to link .jpg or wav file. For the program link I set the code manually. For the video I renamed my video with the .wav file extent ion then used prune to link as though it was a sound file. Most video replay progs will run the file then identify the content then use the appropriate codec
Prune is open source in java so it would be fairly simple to extend the allowed linked file types.
Any java experts out there
I have linked waypoints on a route to local weather displays so a route can be checked for weather before departure

One feature Tore wanted was auto linking of photos. I think Prune will do this but the photos have to georeferenced first I think some programs do this by writing to the endif header of a photo

Tores info icon looks good

Re: Adding Photos and Sound to OpenCpn Waypoints

Richard..

Thanks for the info,I will check it out as well.

Perhaps you can help with a little problem?
In a previous attempt I managed to combine both links and photos, and
also to change the icon of the info waypoint. (see attached cut)
Presently,I can only do this in two separate instances.
I have tried combining the two but without success and I can not remember
how I did it originall.

Anothe problem is that I am unable to change the original waypoint icon to my new info icon. I originally saved the first waypoint with the info icon but after processed by Prune it changed to a circle/dot.

Re: Adding Photos and Sound to OpenCpn Waypoints

Managed to do a replay of MY memory and 'Hey Presto!', I solved the problem.
AND,what more, I found my info icon again!!

I simply added a link ref paragraph manually, inserting the photo/path:

<link href="F:\PHOTO LOCATIONS\Mandal-Arendal\Screenshot_04 Sep. 04 11.34.jpg">
<text>Track Photos</text>
</link>

Using the Picasa viewer to display the photo of the waypoint, which also can view all the photos of the track in sequential mode, even in full screen slide-screen modus.

Here is Open CPN running a video from a waypoint I have used the example of when aliens attacked my local marina but the video could be a recording of a tricky channel approach or how to moor stern to in the Med. Always an exciting process

If you are really good I will tell you how

Just found out you can geocode photos with picasa

http://www.thedigitaldarkroom.com.au...7&limitstart=2

Once done I think you can automatically place photos with gps prune

Great Richard..yes Picasa does the geocoding very easily.
Yet another good reason to use Picasa,as in OCPN's 'Additional information' utility described earlier.

Prunewill actually geo ref photos itself if you have exiftool and show prune the path to it...exiftool.exe is portable and can be put wherever you like.
by the way,it took me awhile to figure how,but Prune will save settings.
Use the save settings Manually.

ExifTool by Phil Harvey

a good find, richard! It shows elevation of a track which is wild if you've a cross-Canada road track or the like.I'm looking around to see if I've a decent track spanning a large tide to see if that shows.

Re: Adding Photos and Sound to OpenCpn Waypoints

Here is the code used to set up an 'INFO' key.
(See my post #28 to download the special info icon)

To place an info icon, proceed as follows:

1. Use a OCPN right click and drop the mark where required.
2. Right click the mark and select Mark/waypoint properties.
3. Scroll down the list of sea marks and select the circular blue info icon.
4. Select the Mark/waypoint option again and fill in the 'Mark name' at the top.
5. From the waypoint area in the Route Manager, select the mark and Export wpt. to a suitable GPX directory.
6. Using Notepad, edit the Mark/waypoint you just created and insert the code marked red EXACTLY where shown
and save it by overwriting the old name.
7. The new info icon is now ready to be imported to the 'Temporary layer' in the Route Manager.

You can later edit the code to suit your own requirements.

In MY setup I am using Bungee,Picasa and Zoner Photo Studio 13,all free.

Re: Adding Photos and Sound to OpenCpn Waypoints

The cruise season to Antarctica during the summer period November to February is getting near. In preparation for the visits by cruising yachts as well as the cruise liners, I have converted the attached and other nearby charts to .kap format for OCPN. (Coding attached)

The special 'Additional information' feature available in the OCPN 'Mark' has been used to set up convenient access to photos, live webcam, weather forecast, track of previous visit as well as live AIS to follow the cruise liners and yachts equipped with satellite internet
connection.

As the 'Additional information' menu/box is already full, and does not have a scroll function,I would ask Dave to please make this link box scrollable to allow more entries.

Port Lockroy on Wienke Island is a much visited Antarctica destinatin during the summer months from November to February.

Marinetraffick has the area covered and the target of a US supplyship is presently visible.

Here's another icon for use with photos placed with the 'Drop mark' facility in OCPN:
4shared folder - UserIcons

Put the camera.xpm in your UserIcons folder.

I wonder who is uplinking the info to Marinetraffick as there is nobody at Lockroy yet and they dont have much bandwidth anywayt? Perhaps it from Palmer station? I doubt the coverage is very complete there, AIS targets keep coming and going in the channels around there due to the topography.
