access laptop running OpenCPN with tablet or phone

What would be the cleanest way to access OpenCPN running on my laptop with a tablet or phone.

At the moment I have to run both when sailing and keeping the data synchronized is a challenge.

I am wondering is remote desktop will be a solution

Remote desktop probably would be a solution for some, sure not for everybody.

Re: access laptop running OpenCPN with tablet or phone

Its always a pain to access a PC from a phone or tablet. The problem with Remote Desktop is that the host PC will be disabled while ever you remote access it from another device. You might also encounter issues with scaling if HDPI screens are in the chain. I'm a bit of a fan of NoMachine (which is free for personal use) as it is a VNC style of connection that keeps the host PC functional at it's console even with a remote session connected.

I found it very handy. Not less since I've an overlay radar on my PC so in that way I can have use of that in the cabin on a 10' tablet.
I use TightVNC server on the PC and VNC viewer on my Android

Even if it's "rather easy" to send mouse and key board commands through the VNC it's even more practicable to use a wireless mouse to the PC. Logitech trackball is one where I also use the two programmable buttons for F2 and F11. (Auto follow and full screen)
