About installing S-63 ENC

Dear
In case I bought a User Permit from O-Chart to install S-63 ENC on my desktop; could anybody tell me the M_ID and M_Key parameters should I use to generate PERMIT.TXT for using on my system?
Many thanks

Re: About installing S-63 ENC

Dear Mr. Khanh,

you need just the S-63 UserPermit generated at o-charts to get the specific, individual PERMIT files generated for you. A S-63 UserPermit does contain the HW_ID and the M_ID. Renate Rosner/o-charts is the IHO S-63 OEM in representation of OpenCPN and has as such its own M_ID.

If you have software to generate S-63 sets including the PERMIT files we know by experience that the common software packages as provided from SevenSeas or those used by UKHO (Admiralty), PRIMAR, the Australian AHS and others do work correctly with our S-63 permit.

Beside of this you will have to identify the end-user system, the charts are running on, with an OpenCPN InstallPermit, a software dongle or key.
On the o-charts site there is a checklist how to proceed, some more explanations and backgrounds and a video how to install permits and charts.

As your case is perhaps a special one, please feel free to contact the people who take care of S-63 for OCPN directly at o-charts.org
We are interested to talk to HOs and to explore common interests in order to get up-to-date charts to our users.

Re: About installing S-63 ENC

Hi,
My windows 10 machine has updated itself and now I cannot get the s63 Install Permit to work. I have created a new fingerprint file and got a new install permit, but when I test it out I get a 'Install permit invalid' message. If I run the command (shown in the opencpn.log) I get the following three lines:
OCPNsenc: Executing...
OCPNsenc: Install permit for this machine
OCPNsenc: Exit.

Is there an issue with the latest version of windows 10 and OCPNsenc? I have tried this with OCPN 4.2.0, 4.4.0 and 4.5.0 . The OCPNsenc.exe file is dated 03/03/2016 and the s63 plugin is 1.4.3 which I have just re-downloaded and installed.

Thanks
Jon

Re: About installing S-63 ENC

Jon,

as far as we have tested, no.
The issue of W10 self updating and presenting itself as a new OS is known.

Once generated an according InstallPermit we have not seen any problem. (but having spent one IP). W10 4.4.0
