4.8 what is new?

I am working on the update for 4.8 for my OCPN manual in Dutch.
On the OCPN website only " Expanded integrated vector graphics icon set for improved rendering of waypoints and routes" is mentioned but there must be more to tell to the users. For example that there is a complete new list with new icons for waypoints.

Where can I find a complete list of all the new items?

Aart

I don't think that a complete list has been compiled for 4.8.0.

I used to compile such a list based on the discussions on the forum, the beta release statements and the OpenCPN git repository at https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/commits/master.

The git repository contains _all_ changes to the program. A lot of these changes does not concern the user/documentation directly, such as speed-ups non reported bugs, code refactoring etc, etc. In the end it's a judgment call, what to include in the documentation.

I did a quick scan of git from 20170314(4.6.0 release) to 20170811(the 4.8.0 release)

Something like this
Quote:
Added new dashboard clocks based on GPS local time and CPU local time.

*Re-implement Track Printout method.

*Implement SVG UserIcon support + new set of Icons

*Merge pull request #760 from seandepagnier/chartgroupkeys

1, 2, 3 keyboard keys select chart groups, 0 selects all charts

*support all conic projections

*Improve Route Printout page layout

*Optionally allow space bar to drop mark at own ship position
Aart, you are doing a great job with you're Dutch documentation......
Why don't you help out with documenting changes in OpenCPN for all to see?
If you start now you have a clean slate with the next release. Start a new thread on the forum where you can maintain an updated list for the beta development. Ask the programmers about everything that is not clear.

Re: 4.8 what is new?

I've added that to the Wiki, Developer > Beta Dev Change Log

https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...dev_change_log

Go to the bottom!

We need some help getting the complete listing.
1. We need from 4.2.2 to 4.6.0
2. We need changelog pages created for years 2012 to 2016 and these are all in Cruiser's Forum which just has to be searched and copied into the page.

I've done 2009, 2010, 2011 pages and have been adding to the current year.

Aart it should be under keyboard short cuts.

See bottom.

Aart,

It is an option that can only be selected by editing the opencpn.ini file. This is an option requested by some researchers. It is not needed by every day users.

Aart,

I neglected to mention that when editing the OpenCPN.ini file you can only do it when OpenCPN is not running.

Just because my English is not good enough. I can read it with the help of a dictionary, but writing is just a bridge to far for me.
