3.2.2 Slowwww
Hey guys I am running OpenCPN 3.22 on an old toughbook CF-18 with 1.2Ghz processor running Windows XP. I just downloaded all of the N American Raster charts and it is grindingly slow. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to accelerate the software? Maybe something with the quilting? I just ordered a boot disk from Panasonic so I can reinstall windows. Maybe that will help.

I would start with having the computer running at top capacity first. How much memory do you have, have you thought about adding additional? Also is your virtual memory tapped out? I have a dual 1.2 ghz and my memory taps out before my processor.

How slow? Slower than experienced on OCPN elsewhere, or just subjectively slow?

Yes slower than on my MacBook. Glacially slow.

I suspect you are memory limited. Quilting takes lots of RAM.

Try it in non-quilted mode. It may be fast enough to be usable.

Also, if you could post your logfile, we may learn more about the bottleneck.
