system tests
I just bought an LG E2350 23 inch monitor. It runs on 12V out of the box. I ran power tests on that and my Pollywell CPU. Pictures and test results are posted at: Red Sky at Night

LG Monitor
No, I think I have the same one. It came with a power supply in the cord. The power jack on the back of the monitor takes 12V.

The other thing you may want to check on is whether the monitor has a VESA mount on the back. This is necessary if you want to use a wall mount for the monitor. Most LED monitors do not have provisions for using a wall mount. At this time the new Mag Innovision GML series LED monitors are the only ones I know of with a VESA mount on the back.

LG Monitor
The LG E2350 does not have a VESA mount. This will be a problem and may require some amount of duct tape to correct.
The Dell G2410 monitor has a VESA mount but does not have a 12V input.

A TV is probably not the way to go for low power specs...

Just wanted to let people know of the first led / external power / vesa mount screen that I found. I've bought a Acer S231HL, a 23" 1080p monitor which runs on 19 volts and includes vesa mounts. Includes VGA, DVI, and HDMI inputs. I'll be using in the cabin with a HDMI feed from the ship's laptop for watching movies.

Samsung BX2050
LG E1950T/E2050T/E2250T

New picture frames can be used as monitors. (Samsung, e.g.) I think the connection is USB. Probably low Watts there.
This only meaningful if one has a big PC/laptop and wants to save energy in the screen department.

Theres plenty of nominal 12V power supplies for min-itx that are suitable for cars hence also boats.

12 Volt Computer
I have a Acer Aspire 8.5 inch , works on 12 Volt or 110, $320.00, It connects to a 17inch Acer monitor via the monitor port $150.00 ,it is a Backup though, the monitor is 110 volt, and works off an Inverter, i use a dedicated desktop for full time Navigation. I did use the acer this summer for 2 weeks and did not have any problems with it.
I loaded it with OpenCpn and Seaclear for nav programs, and use Soft Charts with them. they work fine, or you can download charts from NOAA.

On deck screen option
One exciting possibility is the new announcement from PixelQi that their daylight readable low power screen technology is being integrated in a 10.1" USB/Wireless USB monitor format by Display Solution AG.
The products are due out in the next month or two, and there should be one wired USB screen (using DisplayLink USB monitor technology) and one using DisplayLink over wireless USB.
Both products will be VERY low power, and totally daylight readable.
Fingers crossed the wireless USB version will be battery powered, touch screen and also reasonably weatherproof!

Double duty
I'd go with the Vizio RazorLED 22" LCD 1080p HDTV. It too uses a wall wart to supply 12 volts to the TV. With both HDMI and computer inputs, a VESA wall mount, 1080p native and only 28 watt power draw. Now I have a navigation monitor and a TV at anchor.
