14 days...plenty for me...I find near coastal much more interesting. Why would I care about setting some arbitrary record anyway?

And, my GF does not like long runs, so realistically I am mostly single handing w her taking watch long enough for me to catch a power nap. So, now don't typically do runs any more than a few days.

Re: What's the longest you've been continuously at sea

26 days when we had an El nino year and the trades shut down between Mexico and Hawaii. Most boats were 30 plus days that year. Becalmed for 3 days, beam on to the swell rocking back and forth like a metronome.

Was becalmed for a few days.. these two dolphins were kinda hanging out around the boat for a day or so... 3rd day I was pretty down and sitting on the coach roof feeling sorry for myself...
The dolphins came swimming over and there was this perfect mini dolphin between them.. felt like they were saying..
"Hey.. look.. aint he beautiful..?"
Then they swam around the boat and back to where I was sitting.. then swam away.. did not see them again..
I lie.. I can still see them in my minds eye...

Re: What's the longest you've been continuously at sea

24 days, Kauai to SF, 21 days Kauai to SF, 21 days Cabo to Hiva Oa, 19 days La Paz to Hiva Oa, 18 days Bora Bora to Hilo. No particular desire to do long passages, but there are lots of far away places to go!

22 days from Hanalei to Bremerton. A truly "Golden Voyage."

We've been fulltime liveaboard/cruisers since June 17th, 1972. We've logged over 75,000 miles and never took more than a two day non-stop passage. Gunkholing and anchoring is what we do. We have about 15,500 days on board.

We're cruising south now from Jacksonville, Florida. We left 17 days ago and we've gone 120 miles with six stops.

OK then... wishful despair!

I've been a coastal sailor my whole life, and by life... I mean the one that gets in the way of one's (everybody's) dreams!

I however wouldn't dare say that others have it better than me... Thanks for putting it in perspective Cap'n!

Re: What's the longest you've been continuously at sea

20 days, Hanele Bay (Kauai, Hawaii) to San Francisco. We've also made four Kaneohe Bay (Oahu) - Mainland trips, and it usually takes about 17-18 days. I really enjoy these passages.

Re: What's the longest you've been continuously at sea

I've thought about doing the whole non-stop circumnavigation thing, and then I wonder, what would be the whole point? I like long stretches at sea, but I am happy to make landfall as well, anticipation of a new port sights and sounds, cold drinks and not to mention fresh meat. I don't know why, but after awhile, the canned variety loses it's appeal, and non stop fish consumption is fun, then you long for something with a different texture. It can be chicken, pork, beef, goat, sheep, stray dog, slow monkey. Really doesn't matter.

Re: What's the longest you've been continuously at sea

30 days N.Y. to England......no motor, so took longer ...broken starboard spreader in mid Atlantic also probably contributed to slow passage. Still wasn't particularly anxious to make landfall.......your craft becomes your universe.
With apologies to Miles Smeeton ,once was quite enough however.

Not to mention that if I were to circumnavigate (which I don't think I would actually have the gall for), but if I did I would want to see the world that I was passing by. If you sail around the world non-stop what would the difference be from say sailing around the Atlantic in big circles for the same amount of time. Stop and enjoy foreign lands that you may never get to see again.
