Mysterious part

Good Morning all, I have a riddle that I need some help solving.

I found this thing in my boat. I have attached a picture.

Trouble is this little sucker has become a source of debate among my peers. The guessing runs the gamut but I suspect that it may be a piece from the missing diesel heater.

So I turn to this human database of old salt knowledge. Please take a look and let me now if you have seen it before!

IT seems to be brass, 2 pieces that screw together. the male piece has an o-ring gasket.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions red herrings or advice

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: Mysterious part

No Holes.

They fit together very well, However i do notice that once the male end is screwed all the way in, there is still one exposed thread.

Re: Mysterious part

Honestly, I think they are a cap and a plug for temporarily closing a line union to keep contaminates out of the line and port while apart...

Re: Mysterious part

It's two parts off of an assembly, probably a carburetor, that happen to fit together.

Also think so. Maybe for a gas deck fitting and an outboard grill? Where you normally have the hose when operating the grill?
The O-Ring is a bit 'overkill' though ....

Re: Mysterious part

I like the Idea that it is a blocking cap and plug for the heater, I just cant prove it yet.

for that matter could it be for the engine? yanmar 3gm 22.5 ?

It does look like a small storage compartment. Room in the stem for something and the o ring to keep it dry.
