Re: KA LUNK

Zeehag just reading through this post, because of funds and past experience I am thinking along the lines of picking up a older hopefully better built boat if I can find one with a bad engine I would get a better boat at a better price. Anyway back to the question when the engine ran away how did it eventually stop and what caused it? I have seen newer PERKINS run away but never an older one, they were fitted to millions of Massey tractors and gen sets.

Hope all is going well.

right this instant i am coughing my asthmatic lungs out from raw diesel in bilges.
i am on fire aith each breath.

HOWEVER, i AM in best place to fix problems.
fuel pumps here are very very expensive. according to mexicans working with me
. but 1500 pesos is very very expensive to them. i will call on replacement price to my pump rebuilder in casimira costillo, 70 miles from here.
mine was not caused by blowby but by fail governor in injector pump. was stopped by cracking all injectors. i believe had it been blowby caused that the runaway would have continued despite cracking all injectors .
i was lucky, as my block and head and cam and crank were still good.
i bought this boat after po blew the f outta the westerfreke 107 used to be in her. dumped 15k off price as soon as i saw plume of black smoke in san diego. i replaced with perkins 108 used n ran.
i love this boat, she is comfy under sail even when rolly. biiig winds??!! ha ha... jib n mizzen, reef em n SAIL!!!
i am very pleased with this boat
