Re: Is this raft bluewater seaworthy?

Wind! Well I'm going to need a sail! Do you think 50 is enough, after all, my pickup has a wind of 60 when I'm driving it.
And sails? should I get one made of two bedsheets or just one? Does it make it easier to paddle?
Decisions Decisions- my oh my...

Oh its not the fork, it's what its made of! I heard right here on the enternet that tinned forks get all messed when placed next to seawater, you need stainless, specally if you not going to wash them after eating.
Yep, that's what I heard.

Re: Is this raft bluewater seaworthy?

You can't use a stainless fork. Stainless is all wrong in the marine environment, it will suffer from crevice corrosion just hours after you leave and all the tines will fall off. After that you won't even be able to use it as a fish hook.

Re: Is this raft bluewater seaworthy?

My lamp already comes with a fish hook, thank you. But what am I spost to eat with? This cruising is tougher than I thought! I guess I will carve one off the end of my boat. Not the head end, geesh! I am not that dumb!

It sounds like this is your first passage for this boat. I think you need to hire a marine professional captain. He can row your fine boat to Tahiti while you sit in his lap and learn about the sea. Maybe after that you can try on your own. Don't forget to make sure he has insurance.

Hi Newt...I'm concerned you may become a marine Sanctuary by Adoption...that is to say in the event four lonely seals join you for warmth and companionship your vessel will become an international Marine Sanctuary and you would have to remove to another vessel...

I'll keep those seals at bay!

And for those of you that are quick to point out that my ship is not tall...
Well it's the sailor that matters!

2. The head- while inshore, I will just paddle up to the nearest home (or Safeway in Astoria). Off shore: hold onto the oars and lean out! TP is 69 cents a roll!
3. I am looking for an AIS that will hook up to my solar cell phone charger! Any leads?
4. I have one of those wind up radios/lights for navigation lights and position fixing. 23.99 at Walmart!
Certainly I don't need anything else. You guys are just being snobbish because you have everything and don't want to share the ocean with me.
I'm not snobbish. I'll tell you what, you sail it over here to me and I'll pay for provisioning and sponsor you to return.

Re: Is this raft bluewater seaworthy?

I think you just came across the first paddle board. But as long as it can be righted, it should be seaworthy. And, if the whipping is bamboo too. I think I seen the same model on the way to Manila yesterday but with only one paddle.

I think making the bow entry a little sharper would allow for better entry and exit in big seas....
