Importing Help

Anybody have experience importing a French flagged vessel into the US?

I am in the middle of it.

Importation was no big deal. To pay the 1.5% importation tax I was required to retain a customs broker.

Documentation is another story. When submitting any bills of sale, original registration, or French de-flagging documents to the USCG, they must be translated into English by a certified translator.

In addition, any notarized documents, for example your Bill of Sale, must be accompanied by an Apostle, certifying that the notary is legit.

No big deal if you know this going in. At this point I am facing delays and expense complying with the USCG...
