I think that they are used to attach a flag to a flag halyard.

Thanks for the photo taken from 30 feet away and not cropped.

It looks like a tent guy spring. Used by some (never me) to attach tent guys to the tent peg.

Re: I give up is it a thingaspringawidgetcallit?

gotta fly my flags, entering Canada next week. I'm am so lucky to have these onboard. What would I do without this Seachoice Flag Clip. Now if I can keep from stabbing myself, I will now attach to the flag, stand back everybody!

Re: I give up is it a thingaspringawidgetcallit?

Thanks Stacy,
still haven't figured out how it works, but I will, the clip on part is easy, now for the other end.

by the way, never read mildew or mold threads. too much work. Gotta go someone is firing on us here in Anacortes, sounds like some crazy guy with a canon.

Re: I give up is it a thingaspringawidgetcallit?

Let me guess. The previous owner paid $10 each for them because they said Marine on the package somewhere, when two knots on a halliard could have done the job.
