Challenge - what is wrong?

A quote from VOR site:

" ... the fairing is located at the top edge of the keel, where the keel joins the hull, an area that must be smooth to ensure an aerodynamic flow of water and optimum performance..."

Challenge: what is wrong with VOR?

;-)

Love,
b.

Re: Challenge - what is wrong?

Shouldn't that be hydrodynamic?

All water flows are "hydrodynamic" by definition. The goal of a fairing is usually to achieve some sort of efficiency gain. Perhaps non-turbulent or laminar flow. Same with aerodynamic flows. Must be marketing literature. Marketing folks should leave the engineering to engineers ... Stick to making coffee or whatever they do.

Re: Challenge - what is wrong?

Technicaly speaking, you may be able to heal far enough that one side of the flange may be out of the water then Airodynamics may be appropriate... although admittedly still a bit on the ridiculous side!....just saying!

Doh!

VOR website is full of such erratic & erroneous "information", apparently written by some marketing boobies (thx Blue Stocking!) ;-).

The good news is their video documentals are fabulous.

Cheers,
b.

Re: Challenge - what is wrong?

Hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, meh, all the same to me. Just a different medium. Try telling your hydraulics teacher that cavitation is called burbling.

He wasn't a happy man with me.
