Bridle to aft-beam or stern cleat to hold the boat into the waves rather than into the wind works in most rolly anchorages if space allows. Be prepared to unbridle if winds increase substantially.

As for being more comfortable in rolling conditions in a catamaran than a monohull, friends on a cat were up earlier than us in one rolly anchorage in the San Blas. They were high-tailing it out of there because the motion was too much for them. Yet it wasn't enough rolling to even wake us up. And we were the ones in the monohull. Different strokes for different folks.

i used a 3 gallon feed bucket for that problem when i was riding storms on a mooring in sd--- the 3 gal bucket on a med length line would hold the movement to a minimum and i would not have the hobbyhorse tendency that the bow lines f my ketch forced upon my boat while riding the wakes and storm seas made in the bay . worked well and i havent had to pay for anything or make anything else to deal with that problem.
i make sure the bucket stays submerged and is all good.

the problem with the chip is it is wired to his brain,,,look at his last thread about the government reading his mind,,,I suggest that he seriously look into having the chip upgraded to the mac-intel version or have it removed completely,,,he is misfiring,,,,,they might have damaged the frontal lobe when they inserted it up through his nose,,,i think they did that in Total Recall also,,,,DOJ if you can read this get help immediately,,,,,the battery is out of voltage,,,,quick fix is to hold onto some live 200v wires for several minutes

Much better idea than what I used. I had a 5 gallon pail with weights at the bottom with a rubber flapper valve inside. Bucket comes up, water stays in and creates drag, bucket goes down valve opens and bucket sinks.

This one is much more easy to stow. Now added to my list of things to build.

as roger.waite says a line from the anchor cable or rode led aft through a turning block to a sheet winch works well and costs nothing.
once you have it set up you can adjust the angle of the boat to the waves by letting out or hauling in on the anchor. i use this method all the time as it is easy to set up and doesn't require any specialist equipment, just a mooring line.

What effect does this technique have on the anchors hold on the bottom?

Given you are trying to put the bow into the wave pattern, shock loading should be reduced. Windage would increase (if you were previously lying to the wind in a wave pattern that had refracted e.g. around shallows). May get increased pressure on the anchor from slightly misaligned wind driven currents. But this technique is not usually used in higher winds.

In strong tidal currents (not tried), I think you are unlikely to use this technique - the boat would 'sail' off to one side until it was nearly aligned with the current again. I am assuming tide and waves are quite misaligned.

Using a bridle to turn the boat will become a bad idea when the wind comes up strong enough to drag the anchor. But it is simple to release. And usually when the wind comes up the rocking problem diminishes because the wind and waves come from the same direction. Or you are awake and restless anyway
