Calling engineers to build something!
I love supporting small businesses (which I might end up doing), but the prices for his systems are kind of steep $3500+
It's basically a floating ad:
bbi Displays Ibb-200HD Amphibious, Airtight Billboard - bbi Inflatable Display Systemsbbi Inflatable Display Systems
Question, does anyone have any ideas of a diy build at home for 1/6 the cost of his?
His are made of vinyl with air ballasts as floats. The big one weighs 200 pounds. I'm thinking of a pvc system, but the stability and weight seem unrealistic.
Anxious to hear everyone's thoughts!

Are you boating in the Gulf?
Have you seen airplane banners? The huge tour boats? The parasailing boats?

Re: Calling engineers to build something!
I guess I'll change the topic...
Would it REALLY bother people to see a 12 foot banner 300 feet away from the beach?
It would either be towed by a 30ft sailboat or 21 foot bowrider.

That's definitely been an option. I've seen it done before. But selling the boat with a mainsail ad could be difficult.
I suppose a new sail and printing would be less than his system.
Also the way an ad has to be printed on a sail is limited. That's why you mostly see full color beer ads on sails.
Just trying to think out of the box to advertise my business.

You aren't under any obligation to protect my idea of "the outdoors", but I'm not under any obligation to hold back mentioning what a selfish, self absorbed piece of garbage I think you are.

Re: Calling engineers to build something!
I'd have to go with the genoa or spinnaker display... heck they may buy the sail for you... it would have to be a product I really loved though for me to hank it on...

Then advertise on the internet and leave the intertidal zone alone.

Well, I think most negatives here are rightly concerned about exploiting the scenic view of the ocean for marketing. If you can think of a classy, non-offensive way to display the ad, it will reflect positively on your product. If you insist on boating it, I could imagine you could sail with the jib or genoa and have a large attractive, lightweight, colorful, flag banner flown from the main halyard... but what is the product? This is actually an interesting question I've never thought of, can any product/service be tastefully marketed from the mast of a sailboat? my inclination is, no, but who knows? I can say I don't have a very high opinion of the flying banners though, especially at the beach.
