Has anyone had any experience with wireless wind transducer .I am currently looking at the nasa clipper wireless wind setup. Our reliable simrad wired wind indicator masthead unit wore out.And to replace it is more than a new wireless unit complete

Re: wireless wind indicators

I inherited an old Tacktick windy. Must have been 8 years old when I got it. Worked for another five before I had to replace it. Now have a repaired one from Raymarine (who bought tacktick). Has worked well so far. Expect to get another 12+ years out of this one.

Re: wireless wind indicators

I know some boats where NASA wind is used but none of them is a wireless unit.

Their wired units are very basic and the owners often say setting them up is more complicated than required. The cups break easily over time. Possibly UV damage.

Re: wireless wind indicators

We have Nexus, now owned by Garmin. They work well but you will have to replace the battery at the masthead after 2-3 years. And Garmin support for it stinks.

Re: wireless wind indicators

I have spotted a recent Panbo feature on the Garmin unit.

Cheers,

I've a nasa, fine for the price but the cups do get a bit brittle after a while. Good advert for mast steps nasa kit is a bit love or hate.
They do a wireless system as well..
