Re: Windows 10 installed without my permission

Had the same thing.
The PC is often left on,Came back to desk to find Windows10 had been installed.
Started misbehaving straight away-Disabled 3rd monitor as apparently the graphics card had driver issues and needed to be reinstalled.
Which wouldnt be particularly strange if it wasnt for the fact that the system uses two identical cards-both using the same Nvidia drivers.
After reinstalling the drivers-the 3rd screen was then recognized, but would "white screen" any time anything than than the desktop was displayed...
Pushed that aside,to find that some software i have also didn't appreciate the "upgrade" to Win10..
Very easy decision to simply hit the "go back to windows 7" button...

Really wish they wouldn't do stuff like this... Annoying to say the least.

Slow learner? I dumped Microsoft 10+ years ago. The biggest problem is they are ubiquitous in the world of commerce. Apple is but only marginal better in their marketing strategies, but the platform is world's ahead in stability and security.

Re: Windows 10 installed without my permission

I did not see an option to go back to previous OS. This could be a big problem for someone like myself who don't have much in the way of computer skill's it required several minutes just to find the new location of the power down

Yes, this is happening all over. Very annoying to say the least. Has happened on 2 of my computers. The install won't cinolete unless you accept the terms and conditions, so click on DENY and the computer will revert to your old setup. That was my experience at least.

Amazing that MS is now resorting to the techniques associating with spammers!

Here's a 2 minute video link that tells how Microsoft tricks people into okaying the install of Windows 10 when they think they saying no. Bad move on their part.

I installed 10 when first became available since I hated 8.0 & 8.1 and glad I did as it infinitely better.

Actually the Mac security is years behind Windows!!! They you boot a Mac, a few keyboard commands (well documented on the Internet) and you can bypass the admin security. It's not even hard! I used to do it regularly in a previous job for people who lost their admin passwords!

There is an option to revert to previous version of windows if exercised in first 30 days of takeover. It worked for me on Friday.

You do not "own" the os, you merely lease its use. Look at your 68 page agreement. So suck it up.

This is weird.
I close the update window about once every two/three days by clicking on the X in the corner. Never had the W10 install itself as claimed in the video.
Then - if by any chance/mistake you did approve the upgrade, you have 30 days to roll back to whatever version you had before (I am not sure that you can go back to an unsupported prehistoric one)

Many people have their computers set to automatically install updates. Since windows 10 is an update, perhaps this is the reason your computer updated itself.

Re: Windows 10 installed without my permission

Loved Windows 7, hated 8. Love 10. This is hard for me to say, best OS Microsoft has put out. I would say give it a chance, and you may be surprised.

I hope people don't get tired of me harping on VirtualBox, but it is a great way to play with other OSs. Run just about any OS on your computer in a virtual machine and try them all out. Delete the ones you don't like. I tested a bunch of Firewall apps and ended up running IPFire for my home firewall. It would have been painful to image the PC over and over. I have a VM of OpenCPN to learn on. When ready to cruise, I can just copy the VM over to a laptop and be ready. Tested the USB GPS receiver through the VM, just to be sure.

Yes, that is correct. By stating it in The manner that you did, I assume that you own a fair amount of Microsoft stock.
