Re: Windows 10 installed without my permission

I was on mine when the install screen came up. I immediately did a hot kill, waited about 10 minutes and rebooted. There was no other way to stop it or exit! Very sneaky!!

Re: Windows 10 installed without my permission

I googled "how to restore windows 7" after it happened to me, and found instructions pretty easily, that worked, but i lost a couple of key features during the process, and the search programs and files just doesn't work so well anymore: I can type in the exact name of a word doc and it just doesn't find it.

Re: Windows 10 installed without my permission

Microsoft with windows 10 has become the creepy teen age girl who just will not take no for an answer and just will not go away.

Paul,

Understood. I just chose to do it manually.

It would appear they were losing their superiority in the market and where trying to buy their way out by giving away a poor produce. I hate seeing bad practices run any company down the tubes.

Re: Windows 10 installed without my permission

Never wanted to be a defender of MS, but I do think that Windows 8 was horrible with their push to standardizing tiles across mobile devices, XBoxes and PCs. It just didn't work well on PCs, even with touch screens. They also wanted to get in on the App store scene like Apple. I believe Cortana uses Bing for search results which drives up revenue. People hated 8, they had to give away 10 to keep customers.

I find W10 to be a good mix between my favorite Explorer of Windows 7, with a touch of tiles from Windows 8. I also think Windows 10 is a lot more stable that either 7 or 8. I remember a similar push back from Windows 1, which was really hard for people to adjust to from using a DOS prompt. "How to I get to a DOS prompt!?" and "I don't need a stinking mouse!"
