Will my Raytheon ST7000+ autopilot work with the B&G Vulcan 7?

It's time for an upgrade on my 2000 Hunter 420. The old GPS died, and the remaining network is all Raytheon gear--wind indicator, depth, speed paddle wheel.

I'm ready to buy a new B&G Vulcan 7 with the forward scan technology. My biggest concern is whether the ST7000+ autopilot will take instructions from the Vulcan 7?

I'm learning that Raytheon instruments use SeaTalk (NMEA 0183?)- and V7 only speaks NMEA 2000. How do I get them to talk to each other? Or can they?

I'm new to this technology but love learning! Please use newbie tech language.

Thanks!

Re: Will my Raytheon ST7000+ autopilot work with the B&G Vulcan 7?

In case anyone reads this, I found the answer. I dug deeper and discovered that the ST7000+ autopilot was controlling a Whitlock linear motor.

I also found out that almost any autopilot can be wired to an existing Whitlock. Wondering why no one told me that?

I've decided to go with the B&G autopilot and Vulcan 7 MFD. Next year I'll add the Forward Scan and upgrade the other instruments with B&G gear.

Best Regards,
Don
