Why can't cruisers use a service like Hughesnet

Was just wondering why, if you went to the expense of mounting a Stabilized Satelite dish, why you couldn't then just subscribe to say a Hughesnet ? They say all you need is clear view of the southern sky... Perhaps you could have service for some considerable distance from the States. Then perhaps there is some simular service in Europe you could switch to when in the Med? ditto in Asia? Hughesnet services run about 80 bucks per mth for very high data rates... the dish would cost around US$ 5k... sure would beat the US$ 5k/month rate the Marine services want... What am I missing??

Dunno about the dish being stable enough? On naval ships the dishs have huge motors that triangulate the dish at the precise spot it needs to be.
