Which e7D transducer?

What is the best the Raymarine e7D depth transducer, Airmar B744V or Airmar B60?

My flush mount B60 has erratic performance and RM suggests the fairing block mounted B744V would be a better choice.

OK, but I am having a hard time believing most cruising sailboat owners are ok with mounting an external fairing block forward of the keel where it could get crushed by a haul out sling.

What are you e7D owners using?

I'm using the B60, but not long enough to tell you how reliable it is.

I'm guessing your problem is mounting location, and they're suggesting a deeper ducer might help.
