Which autopilot? B&G or Raymarine?

My old Autohelm 6000 broke down and there isn't any idea of even trying to fix it according to a Raymarine tech.

Question is, should I go for Raymarine or B&G? I found a B&G ACP2 Network pilot which may be an option or should I buy something like the S2G from Raymarine. My drive is from Raymarine and it is supposed to work with B&G. All my other instruments are from B&G. Unfortunately they are the Hydra system and they cannot be connected to Network, or so I have heard.

So, Raymarine or B&G?

Well, I have a (healthy) disrespect of technicians. He probably wants you to install a new one so he can take your old one and sell it on Ebay for $500.

I.e. I'd get a second opinion.

If you do have to get a new one, I've loved my raymarine and would have to recommend it.

I have both in my 55' catamaran. I would recommend Raymarine for cruising. The B&G is too finicky (a technical term for PITA).
