I convinced the owner of a Catalac I delivered last year to invest in a Raymarine ST2000 as the small wheel was hard work for a 3000 mile trip....
This is the set up I rigged pictured below... worked a treat... they're water proof and rugged so don't sweat to much over exposure..

Good call, Windseeker. Check tension, lubrication, condition of the cables, alignment, etc. You may well end up with a much smoother steering system. That was my experience.

Nice job! I would just want to make sure that heavy looking lid was secured in the upright position...
