What Language Do Tacktick Instruments Speak ?

Have tacktick instruments with T121 hull transmitter. Want to hook up fluxgate from Nexus instruments which I think are NMEA 0183. Tacktick says you need a $400 interface to convert NMEA to Tacktick. Im just wondering does tacktick speak some proprietary language?

Re: What Language do Tacktick Instruments Speak?

The TackTick are wireless correct? Have to have some interface for the wireless set to join the 0183 wired world. Also, the TackTick use a variable data rate "MicroNet" protocol broadcasting on the 900MHz frequencies (varies by where instruments were sold) to move their data around. So, you'll need a MicroNet wireless to NMEA wired card, which I think is the T122. About $400 as you said

We have Nexus on the current boat, and I do use 0183 out of them, but IIRC (somewhat doubtful) they use a proprietary protocol between individual instruments, and only the network interface puts out NMEA. Definitely could be wrong on that, just what's floating in the back of my mind.

Re: What Language Do Tacktick Instruments Speak ?

yeah Tacktick is wireless but the sensors ie transducers for depth and speed and compass are all wired to a transmitter. I was hoping that the commincation between the sensor and the transmitter was 0183 but evidently it is not. The transmitter needs to recieve its input in Tacktick speak. Thanks,
