What happened to Furuno USA's tech support?

I've bought a fair amount of Furuno gear over the years. The stuff is well built and the support from Furuno USA has always been great -- until now. I've been working with them via e-mail for the last couple of months on an Autopilot issue They take weeks to return a support e-mail and when they do the response contains no useful content. Usually a question that has already been answered in the attached e-mail chain. Anyone else having issues with Furuno USA support?

Paul,
Perhaps a sign of the times, economizing??

Haven't had a need to call 'em in years....
But, all y contact used to be via telephone, and it was instant...

Are you somewhere where telephone contact is reasonable (cheap)??
If so, I'd try that and see...

Fair winds...

Call Furuno by telephone. In my experience (which has been plenty with them) their phone support is excellent.

Paul

I have had allot of contact over the years with furuno as well and always found them to be great but emails would take ages to reply. Finally I got ahold of the head of tech support and got his email and used that rather than the general tech support email.

John has a good point can you Skype call them to get things rolling? Then ask for a direct email?

Good luck

Chuck

Darn I forgot to mention that if you are unable to call and in the Caribe area Glenn on Tothil is running a short net on 8.104 at 12:25Z He offers among other things to call vendors etc for folks out of phone coverage. It is called cruiser network online and is the carry over from the yahoo group which I know you are a member of

I don't have an Interweb connection that is good enough for Skype right now. It'll have to wait awhile. I've been using the web based support forms. In the past I've gotten decent answers, but not this time.

Re: What happened to Furuno USA's tech support?

I sent them a broken radar about 8 weeks ago with a note asking for a quote to repair. Within a couple days of Furuno receiving the unit I got a note with the quote. Called the tech authorized the repair, gave them a CC number (of course), and had the unit back in my hands within 10 days.

I only wish all repairs would go this good. Furuno is good solid equipment in my direct experience.
