Depends what version of ViewFax you are using, what grib element you are looking at etc. I am using latest v 5.0.41 - get it here - Airmail weather fax

Clicking on the wind barb icon allows you to see all the data elements in the grib file you are viewing. Each element can be viewed as wind barbs/arrows/contour lines/colour gradient or shading. The colours & transparency can be adjusted for each element although some are more obviously suited to a particular display type. The wind arrow colours I use take some getting used to, but winds start with dark blue (< 5 kts) to red (> 30kts). Placing the cursor over any part of the display will give the actual figures at the bottom left of display, so you can soon get a feel for wind strengths. This image shows how I have mine set-up. I think the rain displayed by black shading, gives a realistic representation:

What happens to airmail and viewfax : I have been for days trying to download "viewfax" on a new computer and it seems that Airmail weather fax does not exist anymore. If somebody has an idea about the current location of this page to download this EXCELLENT software ?

Downloading

I tried again with no success as I get the following message (in French):

Erreur 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED) : Serveur introuvable
Error 105......... server cannot be found.

As I am working from New Caledonia, this problem may be related to tue local conditions of my access provider. I got several other answers and all said that they could connect without any problem.

Thank you for your help. I shall come back only if I find the answer.
