VHF antenna corrosion

Hello all, i have found that the threaded female connector piece at the top of the mast. The piece that connects the cable to the antenna has completely corroded off. For the past three years my standard horizon radio has worked fine with the antenna base grounded to the mast but maybe it should be isolated? Thank for any comments in advance.
