Vesper AIS xb-8000 issues

Arrived at the boat (she's been for sale and on the hard for 18 months) and we're taking her somewhere else for a 2 week trip but now my AIS isn't "connectible" according to the Garmin 1042XSV and now according to my Surface laptop. I'm even plugged in USB wise to the Vesper and it isn't being "read". Light is green on the unit (the Vesper) but can't seem to raise the configuration page (that is - can't "see" the unit so can't connect) . . HELP!
Oh, and yes, the Garmin shows the vesper unit on the nema2000 network.

the garmin does not "connect" to the vesper... nothing in the garmin will tell you if it's "connected" or not. besides it showing in the device list which you said it does. so I don't know what you are looking at on the garmin.

does it show up as a wireless network still? have you connected to it with a phone and app?

Ok, so now it's working . . . don't know why . . just started working . . wish I knew why for future reference. I have the wireless network and initially it wouldn't connect (from my iPhone) through the WatchMate app . . . . messed around with it and it finally did . . just don't know why . . . and that's what is scary.
