Verizon just added unlimited data

A couple of days ago Verizon added a new unlimited data plan, and repriced all of their other data plans. It's very attractively priced.

If you're cruising in the US, spending lots of time at anchor or at marinas with crappy wifi, it's huge. No more minding your data usage, go ahead and binge on Netflix all you want, etc.

There is some talk of them throttling your bandwidth if you go north of 50 gb, or if they detect you tethering a lot, but with the latter a VPN solves that. I use one for some work and it's easy enough to flick it on when I'm tethered.

Even if you don't want/need unlimited, go check out their new plan levels and pricing. You might want to change what you have.

Also, their international plan, which covered 100 countries, has changed (from what I knew) and is much more reasonably priced than in the past.

They are going to have to follow suit shortly. T-mobile introduced unlimited data and Verizon had to respond. AT&T won't be far behind I bet.

We've had unlimited data through Sprint for years, now also have an unlimited data plan on our iPad through Sprint for $20 a month. It's about time the other companies get in line.

Has anyone used Verizon's Travelpass program in the Bahamas? $10/day to use your phone and plan. (I know it's cheaper to get a BTC sim)

Just switched to the Verizon unlimited data plan this afternoon...monthly savings...+$200...that's a lot of Tacos.

While we typically use a BTC Sim in a spare phone as a hotspot, we also use Travelpass on any day where we needed to make long phone calls (since phone calls to and from the US are then free). An interesting twist was that calling an 800 number in the US got a BTC recording saying I didn't have an account to call that number. I just called the non-800 number and got through fine.

If it's a day that we've spent the $10 for travelpass we'll also use the Verizon data since we typically have spare.

SPRINT USERS, I am probably the last to know, but I recently discovered a Sprint International program called GLOBAL ROAMING, which I have added to my plan. It has no cost until you use it and then only for VOICE at 20 cents per minute. VOICE includes IN / OUT / VOICE MAIL, but TEXT and DATA are free. I use it in the BVI's and it works well. No more having to be "line of sight" with the USVI's to get phone service. Have Customer Service talk you through the set up to ensure that it will work for you outside of the USA. George

I have had sprint gor years, but always have trouble with service at my boat central Chesapeake bay. my understanding from local knowledge is that Verizon dosent share well with others and has problems with sprint. My contract is up with sprint so I will definitely check out Verizon. Thanks for the info.

Was with Verizon for 10yrs, just dropped them. I wouldn't go back for that, they have these promos and then take them away, that's part of the reason I got so pissed at them over the years.
