trinescape thanks for that this is the very reason i am being so painful about my research. Just a waste of money if it doesn't work!!! and i ve already had those omni directional arials from whitworths ( the cheap version) they just don't work all that well. Am thinking i'll take my set top out to the boat and get a $20 omni directional antenna and see how it goes. I used a mates one not even design for tv minus the set top and got clear analoge reception but that won't be the answer once the system is turned off!

It seems super digi has just brought out a high definition version of their twin aerial system, ($899), so the standard definition system, (which claims to pick up all the digital and HD stations in Australia), has fallen in price to $299 - I'm tempted to buy one, can anyone who has one convince me?
