Trouble with Simrad 3G radar

Just installed a new Simrad 3G and it is not working. Installer (a friend) says he did everything correctly and this is far from his first installation. He has tried to contact Simrad twice and got no response. I have heard that Simrad might be having problems with this model. Anyone else heard this?

All comments and ideas will be helpful.

By not working, do you mean it does not power on, or it powers on but is not recognized by the display, or it powers on and is recognized but displays nothing, or it displays but everything looks funny, or…?

Rule #1. Personally verify any work not done by you. No matter how many installations they have done.
Rule #2. Have someone verify any work done you. No matter how many installations you have done.

If it is not powering up, I think there are two different color wires in it that need to be connected. This may have been confusing during the install.

It powers on and is recognized but displays nothing.

A. Have you selected "transmit"?
B. Has the Ethernet cable been installed between the RI10/RI11 and whatever display you are attempting to use?
C. Can you maybe post a screenshot or picture of the "Radar Status" screen (chapter 7 on page 19 of the latest manual available from the simrad website for reference)?

have you selected it as the radar source? it needs to be picked on the radar screen.
