Transducer death

Hi All
Is it just me and my friends or have other people had multiple failures of the DST800 transducers! We are on our third in 6 years and speaking to people I know I am not alone in this ! Wrote to Airmar and they said they had had no significant returns on said transducer.
Its only the depth that dies. Speed and Temp are fine .
Just wanted to know is it just us !

Steve .. It was the last one that did this !

Re: Transducer death

If you do a Google Custom Search (airmar dst800) on CF you will find a number of threads on the Airmar DST800.

Re: Transducer death

Yep, temperature went out on mine. The simplest part of the 3 functions.

Re: Transducer death

I had to replace a Airmar DST800 transducer a few years back.
Just the Depth stopped working on mine.

Re: Transducer death

I have an Airmar transducer though don't remember the model # off the top of my head. It was hooked up to Tacktick instruments which in turn gave up the ghost. Or I was doing something wrong trying to get it going (their set up/reboot is the most ridiculous sequence of steps not really made for a one person job). Anyway I did the cheap way out - spliced Airmar cable to the basic Eagle/Lowrance fishfinder one. Everything was working fine for couple of seasons then the temp went. And last season the depth started being erratic working fine one day and not so good another. Don't know if this is a splice issue or Airmar or both. But having read this thread gives me possible avenues to explore.

Re: Transducer death

Have a new DST800 where the depth reading may drop near zero or not show a numerical depth at times. Even while stationary.

Not seeing any errors in the log but am now wondering if this is a sensor with intermittent issues.
