Tablets

Help. I am in need of some techie advise. I am looking for a tablet that is AT&T compatable (preferable) but it need to have the following..
GPS chip so I can run Navionics software offshore (out of cell range) and still get position locations. A USB port so I can hook a sat phone to it for weather. Be android or Ios compatable (per Navionics software) and be windows compatable for Sat phone. anyone have any ideas...Thanks

Re: Tablets

ATT sells a Samsung 10.1 Tablet that has all the features you want. I don't know the details, but I think you can add it to an existing acct for $10 per month and share data plan. Look for something with 4G LTE compatability. It will be backward compatible with 3G, but 4G speeds are awesome. I had 30Mbits per second (downlink)while traveling 70mph on the interstate.

Re: Tablets

Hi El Rubio,
Samsung
told me they do not have GPS chips nor do they have USB ports. I need SGPS in order to use it offshore. Any other ideas?

Re: Tablets

Amazon showed it with one, but closer inspection, indicates it doesn't. The Asus that ATT sells appears to have a micro-USB which can be used with an adapter. It's also 4G compatible. Possibly a contender..

ASUS MeMO Pad FHD 10 LTE - Dark Blue tablet from AT&T

I'm not familiar with this model in particular, but have had an ASUS tablet (TF300) for about 3 years or so and it is still going strong. The battery is in excellent condition & have not found any need to upgrade it yet. it's primarily used to surf the web and stream video. I have loaded the free NOAA navigation tool and have used it a little with no problems, mostly just to compare to the older data in my chart plotter.

Re: Tablets

Thanks to all who responded, but where is the USB port on the iPad? I need to be able to hook up a satellite phone for weather offshore.
