Standard Horizon Floating HX750S modulation

Hi everyone,
I have the above radio, bought in Singapore a couple of years ago. I haven't used it much, being tied to various docks. Anyway, I have a problem with it. The first time I tried using it in Langkawi, the report was that the received audio was very faint.

Yesterday as we were coming in to Tagbilaran, Bohol, I was using it to talk to my friend in front, negotiating the shallows. He told me the same thing, very hard to hear, even though I was talking up into the mic.

So, has anyone else struck this problem? Any internal adjustments that I might be able to make?

As it was bought in Singapore, I am not sure if the warranty is still valid. I guess I should try and contact the dealer (if I can).
