ST60-P and ST-60 Seatalk differences?

Attempts to find an answer in an older chat failed... so starting a new one.

My old ST-50 Tridata gave up the ghost, I replaced it with an ST-60 loaner and it works fine. On the seatalk I have an ST-50 wind, ST-50 repeater, ST-6002 autopilot controller, X-30 autopilot computer, S-100 remote and a C-80 chart plotter.

I purchased a new ST-60 Plus Tridata and replaced the ST-60. The new Tridata works fine. Depth data is received correctly by the ST-50 repeater. Everything else is fine except the ST-50 repeater beeps an alarm. It does indicate an alarm but does not specify its source. It also doesn't react to any of its buttons.

Re-connecting the ST-60 Tridata everything is quiet...

I did call Raymarine. After talking to their engineers (?) they told me that "this cannot happen" while I'm sitting and listening to the beeps. They also told me they dont have ST-50's any more and therefore will not be able to duplicate the problem.

I hesitate to throw more money at this problem (I think it's called throwing good money after bad)

Anyone has seen a similar problem and can help?

Thanks!

Don't fight with hogs. You'll get all muddy and besides, they like it.
