ST4000 Problem

I got an urgent problem to solve:
my Autohelm st4000 doesn't show the rudder refernece anymore
+1 -1 keys for 1sec does nothing
I tried to enter the calibration menu but I only get P08
something is wrong - but anything else works

it should tell cal not p08 (which stands for the software version btw)
anyone know how to restet the unit to factory reset or how I can get into the cal menu?

thx

Re: st4000 problem

when its starts it shows "800" on the display
can somebody verify what it does on his own st4000?
I have the suspicion it has an identity crisis and it would normally show "4000" but I like to confirm this on some other st4000

please if somebody has an st4000 or even another authelm pleas swithc it on and write here what number is showing up

thx

st4000 problem solved

I found the solution and seeing many other posting of lost soules who had the same problem but never found the solution, I give it here:

the autohelm autopilot did on some reason reset itself (can happen anytime so write it down if you own any autohelm pilots!!!)
it shows 800 when starting (means the st800 firmware is running)
no rudder reference and no calibration or setup is possible (you have to calibrate and setup the unit in the end!!!)
when you try to enter the setup it never shows CAL but only ends up showing your the software revision like:
... P07, P08, P09, P10, P11, P12 ...

press -10 and +1 together until it shows "800"
press -10 and +1 again until the "800" is flashing
use the +1 or -1 key to select the right firmware for your model ("4000" was mine)
press -10 and +1 again for ca 10sec to save the configuration
switch it off and on again and make sure it doesn't show "800" but your model number - "4000" in my case

recalibrate and reconfire the device!!

just saved your a lots of $$$ or in some situation even more

Re: st4000 problem

Last summer, my ST4000 wouldn't go to "Cal", and I just got PO9.
From just bumbling around, I must have done the same thing you just described because all of a sudden, it worked.
Thanks for the detailed reboot instructions!
