SSB antenna - new standing rigging

I'm replacing my standing rigging now and plan to add an SSB later this year. I haven't had a chance to thoroughly research the SSB installation yet.

My assumption was that I would want an insulated backstay and asked the rigger to include it in his quote. I see references in other threads to other types of antennas.

Is the insulated backstay still the preferred alternative?

I'm also planning to move the split on the backstay up. Is there a minimum length required for the backstay?

Thanks,

Steve
