Somebody gave me a 1:1 balun

Somebody gave me a 1:1 balun. What should I do with it? Make a dipole antenna? If so, what kind?

I've got an insulated triatic connected to an insulated shroud for the main ships antenna. Is it worth the hassle of doing something with this, or should I pass it along to a friend?

I know the hardcore folks are going to say "you should make the antenna you need for the frequencies you want", but I'm looking for suggestions as to what is easy to rig on the boat plus might be useful. Knowing me, I'd pick a frequency I didn't need, or one that ended up being way too long and unwieldy.
