So rad TP20 Auto Helm

Hi. . .I hope that this is not a dumb question. . .if so please ignore.
I have a Simrad TP20 Auto helm which works really well on my tiller steered Morgan 28 . The boat is getting a bit "passed it" and I am buying a Watkins 27 which has wheel steering. Question. Is it possible to adapt this TP20 to work with the wheel steering to use for minor course settings. My thoughts were to bolt a strip of wood vertically on the wheel and attach the arm to it. I live in the Bahamas so no long distances are planned and I am a good weather solo day sailor for most of the time.
