So Many Choices (transducer quandry)

I would like to see if I could get some advice on the appropriate transducer for my system. I have purchased the Garmin GPSMap 7212 Chartplotter and the Garmin GSD 24 Digital Black Box. My previous thru hull is located where the deadrise is at ~21 degrees, the boat is a 52' Jefferson CPMY. I'm not a fisherman, just a casual cruiser of the U.S. East coast and island areas. I'd like to have a transducer that provides depth and temperature, but depth is the only must have. Since the boat is fiberglass, it can be bronze or nylon. I'd also like to stay with the Garmin brand setup, but if there is a better solution that will plug and play with the Garmin, I would look at that option as well. I'd like to keep under the $400 mark to save my marriage as well.

You didn't mention if you have a NMEA2000 network, or not, but Airmar's DT800 would fit the bill in both instances. They come in various deadrise angles and are the industry standard.

Thank you Bill, it is a NMEA2000 network.
