Hi,
first of all I know this will not apply for all of us, but I hope it will be adapted in the future.
So this morning I was surprised, that some clever fellows from my super small, but proud country (Lithuanians), has introduced what I've been looking for years (ok there was these products out there before, just not that sophisticated).
I've been long dreaming of getting rid of expensive, inefficient and archaic chartplotters and sounders and using
cheap, versatile and fun tablets.
So the guys has just started the
project and are pledging $149 for bluetooth enabled,
battery powered
fish finder / sonar. It integrates nicely with iPhones, iPads and Android devices. It can be easily attached to your
boat by just a
rope. Obviously the product targets fisherman in small dinghies, but I hope one day it will find their way to the cruisers.
I hope one day I can throw away my
Garmin and use $100 tablet (i.e. Freelander pd10) with $20
charts (Navionics) for safe and sound
navigation.
