Sitex AIS reciever and Sea Clear II

We bought a Sitex AIS Reciever to help us with Large Ship encounters running up and down the east coast of the US. We have been using SeaClearII for many years as a Nav System and are happy with it. We have a windows laptop to run SeaClear and the AIS comes with a USB cable which provides power form the PC and communication. I have not been able to get SeaClear to recognize AIS traffic. The device came with its own AIS app and I can see that there is traffic being received both with the diags and by looking at the lights on the device. We configured SeaClear to display AIS targets but nothing shows up. Has anyone been successful with this combination?

Thanks.

Re: Sitex AIS reciever and Sea Clear II

Well I found the answer in configuration I had to set the USB/serial port for the AIS to listen to then it came right up. Thanks to my wife for actually finding the right parameter to change. It is very cool now that it works with the name and intended course track for each commercial ship displayed right on the chart.

Re: Sitex AIS reciever and Sea Clear II

Unfortunately I found another problem issue. After a full day of successfully tracking shipping including private pleasure boats with the device I decided to neaten up the installation by wiretying the wires to the binnacle. The next morning it was very unreliable. The wires were tourqed slightly and caused the USB connection to be unreliable. Once I cut these loose it works again.
