Simrad Unreliable

Hello all.
It I see time for a survey. I have an NSS8 with 3 G radar, purchased in 2012. In 2015, the radar failed. I paid Simrad $720.00 for a new dome. Now, the second dome has failed. Simrad wants another $720.00 for another dome.
I do not want to play this game anymore. Am I the only one dealing with such poor quality?

It sounds like they are giving you 1/2 off retail for an out of warranty replacement. Remember, Simrad, B&G, and Lowerence are all made by Navico and differ only be the decal on the outside, and some minor tweaks of software features.

I have a Navico radar and not experienced, or heard stories about, them being short lived.

Tried them once, but it was nothing but trouble, so never again. And anecdotally, it seems I hear more problems about Simrad than any of the others. The other clue are the constant sales on refurbished units. Those are all the units that have failed in the field. I don't know any other manufacturer who has such a steady supply.
