Simrad TP 32 problem

No wind to day so I thought i play with my Simrad autopilot which we never managed to setup right. After reading the Instructions I found all the positions of the pilot are pretty right. Not quiet 90 degrees to the Tiller and not 100% horizontal but it should be good enough. It is fixed to the tiller at 18inches from the ruder insert point.
It has 9 settings for course correction and we went trough all of them.....we still do the zigzag...... slow in 1 and fast in 9.
I don't know how accurate the fastening points have to be and if that could be the problem . Or the unit is just faulty. I pulled it apart and it looks all good. The grease in there is clean and the belt doesn't slip.
Any ideas out there?
Thanks

Check the voltage. Some of these are sensitive to drops below a point. Autohelm was notorious for this. Everything looked good except it wasn't if it wasn't getting the juice it wanted.

Re: Simrad TP 32 problem

It is very easy to over correct. After you set your course let it settle in. Hit the adjust button you need to correct to once or twice then wait and let it settle. continue to adjust the same way.

Re: Simrad TP 32 problem

Old thread revive.
I notice that Simrad has released new SW/FW for the TP32. Anybody know if it makes the unit any "smarter"? You have to install with the software on a micro SD via a MFD
(NS series) or via ST10 USB cable connector and PC. ST10 ain't cheap at 178$'s!
Durn!
