Show Me Your Maretron WSO100 Installations, Please

I've been looking pretty hard for some real-world WSO100 installations and the only pics I've found were these I got from Maretron:

That owner used 1" stainless steel on the masthead which seems heave to me.

If you've installed a WSO100 on your masthead how did you do it and not also interfere with your masthead lights? The WSO100 is a pretty big device so I'm curious how others have solved it.

Have you gotten any further with this? I am interested in the same thing and was planning on designing my own mount but didn't want to reinvent the wheel if I didn't have to.

I went to the Seattle boat show last week and am now a little leery of the WSO100 after hearing reports that WSO100 units are "shutting down" for minutes to hours at a time and the cause has not yet been determined. Have you heard anything along these lines?

I have not heard of the issue you describe with the WSO100. I would contact Maretron directly for questions on that and then let us know. ;-)

My plan is to use a piece of Aluminum 6061-T6 Bare Extruded Rectangle, 0.375" x 3" x 24" (aka flat bar). One one end of the flatbar I matched the hole pattern for the bolts and humidity sensor on the bottom of the WSO100 so I can through bolt from under the flatbar into the base of the WSO100.

The other end of the 2' piece of flatbar will be bolted to the masthead.

I have the flatbar ($10 from Online Metals which is local to me in Seattle) and drilled the holes, but my spars are being painted now so no installation as of yet.

Thanks for the info Patrick. I was thinking of doing something a bit more complicated but I like the simplicity of your approach. I am impressed with the Online Metals website and live in Gig Harbor so I may make a trip up to Seattle to get some material to play with.

I have he WSO 100 and used an extension to get it up over the anchor light. A tricky install when use the larger field connector. I think I zoomed in on it on this video. I have all Maretron equipment and am quite pleased. I have had my WSO100 go off line, thinking it was a connector issue - but it comes back. hmmm. I have other stuff at my website

Thanks, I did see yours. I step my mast for winter storage every year and would like to come up with something that is easy to remove and install (from a bosun's chair).

You could use a bulkhead pass-through on the mast so you can remove the wire from the mast and then the rest of whatever bracket you use. I just had to pull mine down and it was pretty easy to remove the instrument. If you use machine screws you can remove the bracket. That's what I did.

Good luck finding some more examples. I've never seen another of these in the wild at all.
