Satellite Emergency Contact numbers

Hi,
Im just setting up a sat phone to keep on board and wondering if anyone has emergency contact numbers available for me to make a list and program into the phone, or a good starting place to find them on the web.
Boat is aussie registered and will be travelling from France to Australia so I would like to have any useful numbers before we depart.
Thanks
Monte

Re: Satellite Emergency Contact numbers

Would suggest the only one you would need for an emergency is the one from the country where your boat is registered, they are the ones who will pass any information necessary to the relevant authorities of the countries you are passing through.

Re: Satellite Emergency Contact numbers

We always used the number of a reliable family member. They knew when we were at sea, and when we made it safely back to port. Fortunately, nobody ever had to call that number.

Re: Satellite Emergency Contact numbers

I would add the phone numbers for the Rescue Coordination Centers that you might need.

AMSA :: Australian Maritime Safety Authority

I expect that could hand you off the others if more appropriate.

You can also call them in case on an accidental activation of an EPIRB.

I called an RCC when we had a medical emergency.

Re: Satellite Emergency Contact numbers

Thanks, after some googling I couldn't find much in the way of a list of various countries so it might be a good idea to add to the list I have started. In most cases I agree that a call the the country of registration is probably the best bet, but in some cases where the emergency may not be as severe or where faster local action is required perhaps its good to have local emergency numbers on hand as well.
Fell free to add any numbers or contacts to the list below:

AusSAR, +61262306811
French Maritime, +33297553535
French Antilles, +596596709292
Portugal maritime rescue, +351214401919
European SOS, +33112
Morocco Agadir SAR, +21228842964
Spain Canaries, +34928577080

This site here has a lot of details if anyone is interested
