Re: Recharge Based on Amps or Voltage

too complicated.

i've been using battery voltage on a digital voltmeter for ten years now. my last set of trojan golf carts lasted six years and my current sams club golf carts are now three years old. the trick is to get a voltage reading while the batteries are at rest. not as difficult as you may think.

and when using a 'smart' charger, the 'amps in' rate is another valuable piece of information. with my 450 ah house bank i've found it's not 'profitable' for me to continue charging once the 'amps in' rate goes below 10.

while ideally you should be charging your bank when it get below maybe 80% and bringing it up to 100%, in practice it never seems to work out that way, and i think it's possible to get too 'anal' about the whole thing. on the other hand, i don't ever let the bank go below 50%...
