Sorry, I didn't follow the link because I thought it was just providing the OP with the repair facility information (you talked about getting yours repaired and then said to follow the link).

But yes, I do think production during a period of bad filters would explain many of the same problems.

We had the same problem, transmit but not receive, with a new 505. When we contacted ICOM, they knew right away what the problem was, and told us to bring it to their repair centre. The repair technician said that it was a problem with the filter, same as Rubicoop mentioned, and fixed it in one day, under warranty.
